They are central to human existence. Stories change people - emotionally, intellectually, empathetically.
Lilly Pilly Publishing believes in the incredible power of stories - fiction and non-fiction. We know that stories inspire, educate, uplift, empower, entertain, change, and connect.
It would be an honour and privilege to work with you to help share your story.
Having your story published by a traditional publishing house, or independent publisher is difficult. They have a pre-determined number of books they can publish in a year, even if your book is spectacular, their publishing list might be full for years ahead. And that's why Lilly Pilly Publishing was born, to help share your story.
The Lilly Pilly Publishing difference?
Firstly, Lilly Pilly Publishing is owned by an author, with an indepth knowledge of writing and illustrating and graphic design and printing, and the challenges of marketing. Secondly, Lilly Pilly Publishing is like a gate keeper. We don’t publish just any book that comes our way. Your family and friends may genuinely love your story and say it's great! But it doesn't mean it's ready for publishing, yet. And thirdly, we don't publish any stories with AI written text, or AI illustrations.
If you have a fiction book, your story must:

connect with readers of the genre you are writing

be well-written, following the story arc of your genre

be edited - by an editor, or person experienced with writing, who can help you make your work as good as it can possibly be.

inspire, thrill, entertain, or devastate readers in your chosen genre, and make them feel seen by exploring human experiences.
Our books at Lilly Pilly Publishing do these things, ensuring our books are reputable in the businesses of the publishing world and known as books of high quality. That's more important to us than earning an income from publishing books. We read every word of your manuscript; we don’t just copy and paste and format the text without caring about all the work you have put into your book. If we read your work and discover it’s not quite ready yet, we will tell you and ask you to rewrite or have it edited with a professional editor. Lilly Pilly Publishing will not let you publish anything that you will not be proud of or will regret in the future.
There's always a beginning...
Lilly Pilly Publishing was founded by Julieann Wallace in 2014, at the request of other authors after she had successfully, independently published her own picture book to raise money to donate to medical research. Incredibly, she turned stories into printed books for just $99.00 then. Wild!
With her background in creative writing, art and psychology majors at university, and as a primary teacher and secondary visual art teacher for 35+ years (nominated twice for the national excellence in teacher awards), Julieann has a wealth of knowledge and experience relating to all things books and children and teenagers, having read thousands of books to students over the span of her teaching career. She was also once a book reviewer for Creative Kids Tales in the past.
Julieann is also an author of Picture Books, Chapter Books, Young Adult, Fiction Novels and Non-Fiction books, who has had two books reach #1 on Amazon, with her novel, ‘The Colour of Broken’ longlisted twice to be made into a movie. Julieann Wallace ~ author
